Bretforton Garden Club

Bretforton Garden Club

Bretforton Garden Club is a thriving and

friendly club with a strong membership, not

only from Bretforton but also the surrounding villages. We aim to appeal to anyone who has an interest in gardening or horticulture from absolute beginners to more experienced gardeners.  Membership is £10 per year.

Our meetings are held monthly,  on Thursday at

Bretforton Memorial Village Hall, starting at 7.30pm,

when we arrange speakers on a variety of

gardening related subjects such as growing

and using herbs; vegetable growing in a small

garden; pruning; growing dahlias and plants

for awkward corners. We have recently

introduced a Plant, Seed and Skill Swop which

is proving popular. During the meetings we

hold a raffle and serve tea/coffee and biscuits.

Visits to local gardens and specialist nurseries are arranged, particularly during the summer months, as well as day coach trips to gardens further afield. In the past we have visited Kew Gardens, Hampton Court Castle and Longstock Water Park.  We also welcome member’s suggestions for speakers and visits.

E-mails,  a regularly updated website and Facebook group keep members well informed.  In the summer, to coincide with the Asparagus Auction which raises money for Bretforton Church, we organise an Open Gardens Event when about 12 local gardens are open to the public .Refreshments are available as well as a plant stall and tombola. Funds from this event are donated to local charities chosen by club members.

We look forward to welcoming new members.
